RECOMMENDATIONS

 

HOW TO USE THE SAUNA SAFELY:

Remove any metal items, jewellery, and watches as they can become very hot
Remove make-up and take a warm shower
Always take a towel to sit or lie on
If you have never had a sauna before only spend a maximum of 10 minutes in total in the sauna
Relax in the sauna for 8 to 10 minutes only - and do not allow yourself to become too uncomfortable. After this time, take a cold shower and then return to the sauna again, if you wish. This time, stay for only 5-10 minutes.
To produce steam in the sauna add one or two ladles of water, at intervals, over the rocks. Be careful when adding water to the stove and do not allow the heat to be uncomfortable to the nose or throat
You can spend a total of 20-30 minutes in the sauna, but only if you keep having a shower break
When you have finished in the sauna take a final cold shower
Use a dry towel to wrap yourself in and relax for 15-20 minutes or until your body temperature has returned to normal. Take a warm shower before dressing
ALWAYS replace lost fluids by drinking plenty of liquids - but NOT alcohol

 

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE SAUNA IF YOU:

Suffer from heart disease or circulatory problems

Suffer from an infectious skin disease, sores or wounds
Are taking anticoagulants, antihistamines, vasodilators, vasoconstrictions, stimulants, hypnotics, narcotics or tranquilisers or any other medications
Suffer from an illness causing an inability to perspire
Have eaten a heavy meal within one and a half hours
Have consumed alcohol within one and a half hours
Are feeling unwell or suffering from any medical condition
Have recently exercised. Please allow time for your body temperature to return to normal levels

 

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT:

Saunas operate at a temperature of 85-100C, so ensure that this is comfortable temperature for you
Do not wear contact lenses, glasses, jewellery or watches in the sauna
The warmest parts of the sauna are the higher benches and the area directly opposite the stove.
The sauna controls must only be adjusted by a member of staff
